Thank you for sharing this. I have a question about saving it to a psd file. Does this require doing anything special or do you just open your digital photo and save it as psd? I have saved some of my photos as png files by just saving it to the png option but was never sure if that was the way to do it. Thanks again!
Ann; I save everything as a PSD file, so it can be used countless times without any loss of details like jpg files do, in fact you lose some detail everytime you open a jpg.
If I decide I want a copy from a PSD file I make one and save it as jpg for posting.

I have a question: How do i prevent myself from being overwhelmed by all the choices? There are so many textures as well as opacities and blend modes, how does a beginner stay focussed? Lizzy
Lizzy, The fun of creating textures is all the choices available, just take your time and have fun experimenting, that's the key, to experiment, there is no right or wrong way of doing it, that's the beauty, and remember, you can always start over.
My main concern was trying not to become an addict, too late. : )

You might want to read my reply I posted below your comment.
To save as a PSD go to "File" the click "Save As" and in the drop down box select PSD which is the first option.
