Reality Check .....

Sorry for the absence of posts for the last few days, but reality happened.

Seems my job was one of a handful that was let go after 15 years of service.  Bad enough losing my job, but at this time of year, so close to the holidays, talk about sucking.  So it seems I'm like so many other Americans looking for work in these troubled times.

So bare with me in my absence, but please keep checking in, for I will keep posting while searching.

Ouch. It's a brutal economy out there. Hope you find the perfect place - soon!

Jerry Jones said...

Thanks Bonnie,

Brutal economy indeed, the reason behind the company downsizing and restructuring.

A perfect place would be nice, but close paid place would do.

That really s***s. Hang in there, you never know which opportunities are behind the corner.

Jerry I'm so sorry to read this - it must have been such a dreadful shock. No one's job is safe these days whether in the USA or here in the UK. I really do hope you find some paid work soon.

Jerry!
I read this at work but wasn't able to comment until now. I am so sad to hear this but you're right -- you're certainly not alone in this country.
You probably don't want to hear it but I've always believed that when God closes a door, He leaves a window open. I'm hoping that the right thing will come along and months from now you'll be glad for it.
Take care, my friend.

Hi Jerry,

I feel for you - and with you. I have now been in your situation (=without a steady job) for a little over 2 years and yes, it sucks! BUT - I need to tell you that it also provides a lot of possibilities for both personal and professional growth. And if everything else fails let me tell you: There are a lot of us out here who wouldn't mind paying for your great textures.

Hang in there - after a storm come sunshine and blue skies :o)

All my best and then some...

I thank you all for the kind words and wonderful support, I'm deeply touched.

I can't say all things happen for a reason, in this case it's corporate greed, which seems to be an ever growing trend with business owners.

I have faith in a positive outcome, but have concerns on the length of the process.

Thanks again, you guys rock.

thinking of you .. we are all constantly shocked at how people are treated like a comodity, thrown away when something cheaper comes along, with total disregard for the consequences.. where are the ethics in business? .. it seems that the dollar is more important than people .. in my thoughts jerry, your generosity must be rewarded through karma, for sure .. have faith

Jerry, I only found your site yesterday by following a link from http://allpulpedout.blogspot.com/ It was very refreshing to find someone who is willing to share their knowledge and work with others. Would that there were more with your spirit! We live in such a dog-eat-dog world that it is a wonder there are ANY altruistic individuals remaining. When I encounter people like yourself it restores my faith in humanity. Please know that your work will be rewarded. As one of the above comments said, when God closes a door He opens a window. Get ready for some fresh air and a better view my friend. And, thank you for sharing. Since I am working on a digital mixed media project for my Masters in Art Education degree, I can assure you I will be visiting your tutorials frequently!

To stay in one place for 15 years indicates a level of satisfaction with the employer and vice versa...Please know, that as so many have stated previously, your generosity and artistry are known in the universe. May your many kind offerings bode well, by being repaid with the job and recognition you deserve.Positive thoughts for you and yours during this trying time!

Jerry, I am so sorry to hear this news. Hopefully something great will happen soon. I've been there because the place I worked for went under a couple of years ago. I was sad particularly for my employer, he is a good person and this was devastating for him. I had worked there for 23 years but we have income coming in from my husband so I'm not in dire straits as so many others have found themselves the last few years.

Will be thinking about you and hope that things turn around rapidly.

So sorry to hear this Jerry. I was in your same shoes this time last year - after 8 yrs of service, let go at the end of the day on a friday. You mentioned corporate greed, and when you find a good job that perhaps takes this out of the equation, then you will wonder why you spent 15 yrs with your last employer. Best of luck to you.

Jerry,
I never even knew what you did. I actually thought you were retired (mainly because of the amazaing output that you sent to Flickr), so I thought you had vast amounts of time on your hands. But...what you had was just vast amounts of talent that you just had to share.

You might just consider thinking about taking your artwork to the public, like reginal art shows. I know you have the ability.

One week after I closed on my first house, my company folded and completely shut its doors. Some folks never even got their last earned paycheck. It was Christmas......

It took three months to get another job. That was ten years ago. It still sucks when I think about it but life does indeed go on. My heart goes out to you. I hope this "blessing" becomes truly that for you and that you find yourself in a much better place shortly.
