Sad To Say .................

Sad To Say ................., originally uploaded by SkeletalMess.

Dear friends and those kind souls who leave comments, I'm sorry to
say that, do to the lack of courtesy and commenting from others,
I sadly posted my last texture on Flickr today.

I'm not one that demands link backs if you use my textures, and I'm
not an asshole who craves attention, or praise, and I can see where
posting a thank you can get really obnoxious and tedius, which is why
I say if you don't feel like posting words, simply leave a : ) "smiley
face" or something in it's place, something to let me know I have an
audience and should continue posting.

At Flickr, I would receive hundreds of views and downloads and only a handful of comments, that's not rewarding enough to further my time and efforts posting, sad to say.

So, I shall start posting my textures here, at Shadowhouse Creations, and I hope my Flickr friends come to visit ocassionally, after all, it only costs a few clicks and a : )

BTW........the textures I have posted at Flickr will remain there, for anyone to use and also a way to show my appreciation to the community.

  1. I was so saddened to read your latest post about Flikr... then, so cheered to find that you were still going to post to your blog. I do so appreciate your LOVELY offerings--it's a joy to play around, experiment, and make something beautiful with your textures. Thank you. :)

  2. I LOVE your stuff. Since I found it, I just love coming once a week to view your wonderful creations.

  3. Having a blog myself, I know the importance of just saying 'glad you posted', 'thanks for sharing' and the like. I'm sorry that happened at flickr and am always thankful when you post something here that I think I can use.
Glad to know you'll continue with that. Thanks, Jerry.

  4. I was so sorry to read your comments on Flikr, but happy that you are going to continue your Shadowhouse Creations. And I apologize for the times I did not leave a smiley face or a thank you for your wonderful textures. You are so generous to share your wonderful creations. Many, many thanks. :)

  6. That is sad. I only have a few textures on Flickr. I love your textures and have posted thanks when I have used them but I do notice a lot of people say nothing. Sometimes I see my textures used and get no thank you, no link, not a thing so I totally understand. I will continue to follow your lovely blog :)

  7. I understand you so well.
Nobody like to work invain without just a few thank you ...

I will remain here at your blog :-)

Have a nice weekend, although ...

Not being a Flikr user, I can only say that your website is WOW! i discovered your site thru a roundabout trip from other websites. Thank you for your generosity - the textures are stunning. Loved the photo with this post, as well. And here's a smiley face :) - hope you get lots more!!!

  10. I completely understand where you are coming from! I just wanted to say that you have really inspired me. One of my major goals for 2010 is to get much better at Photoshop and to be more creative and artistic with my photo editing. I just recently started following your blog and already I have found so many things that have filled me with inspiration and excitement. Thank you.

  16. I never did go to the flickr page. I have only been following your blog with an RSS feed. I have the February calendar as my wallpaper and have downloaded several textures. I love the website and blog and your work is beautiful. I am usually at work when I get the feeds and they make my day. Thank you for your great work.

  25. Sigh, isn't it the truth?...... so much worked effort and seemingly unappreciated. Not so my friend, and know that some of us don't get by often, but always leave a little something to let you know if we were here and love your work....:)

    ReplyDelete
  26. that makes me sad..I look forward to your textures:) They are wonderful!
I am always grateful for your art & I use them often & pass your site to my friends:)

  27. We all need acknowledgement for the work we do. Sorry you have not been adequately recognized for your generosity. I have probably been guilty a time or two, for which I apologize.

The comment response you are receiving demonstrates that people do know who you are, what you contribute, and do appreciate it.

Do hope you receive enough feedback to continue here at your blog.

  28. I think you are generous beyond compare. The quality of the work you share is only something I dream to aspire to. More than anything when I look into your art I always receive a message, and that is a true gift. Thank you ever so much.

  29. Jerry, I love your work, it is totally amazing! You should be famous.

I just recently figured out how to use textures, but before that I was lurking and loving your blog.

It is a am amazing site, and you are on my blog roll.

I have recommended you to so many friends, and I do hope that we all remember to thank you for all of your hard work.

I don't use Flickr any more, can't remember my password for love or money. But I am sorry to hear that people have taken you for granted.

And I am so grateful to hear that you will continue with this remarkable blog.

Thank you so much for expanding my horizons, you have changed the way we get to enjoy our photos.

  30. hi jerry
I am relieved that you are still sharing your textures here!
I too have only recently discovered your blog, via the coffeeshop blog, when rita posted about you.
Your work totally rocks, and you quickly became another favourite in my blog list.I have also got a couple of friends who have since become big fans of your also.
thanks again for your generosity and sharing your wonderful creations with us!

  31. Okay, I have to admit.. I am one of the worst offenders. I have often felt mixed feeling about it. I ADORE your textures and have created some of my very best work thanks to you and have failed to ever tell you. I am in AWE of your work. Your generosity! The tutorials!!!Your really,..genius. I have given my professional photographer friend your blog link. And I keep a China adoption blog for the last three years and know the importance of comments. I can only say in my defense that I see your name credited to some of the most talented pics on Flickr and thought you must be getting all the ;due' you could ever need. If you will allow me to be honest... Because now that you have expressed this and given that sweet, sad photo of your beautiful self, I have to just spill it all... I have been afraid of your 'dark side' which you claim in your very well worded, very professional profile. I have a young child and innocence is where I try very hard to reside. The scary pics sometimes... intimidate me. .But it does not stop me from being amazed at your creative brilliance and most of all your extreme generosity (which allows me to draw a little near at all) to share if freely with everyone. There is never a time lately, since I have discovered you, that I do not click right on when you have posted. If you only knew how I admire you. Its just a simple me, but still. I have your gorgeous blog linked to mine so I can see if you have posted. But I hope you will give everyone at flickr another chance. If you only knew how much I see your name about. From my perspective, You rule flickr. We all will not be the same without you,. You are one of the supports that hold it up..and it is world wide. You are HUGE there! Don't you know. I wish I could heal up whatever makes that dark side. but maybe its because of the same reasons that I have felt hesitant. That skull icon you have just replaced was off putting, you must see. With your sweet face, I don't understand what is going on that has you staying captured by that stuff. Can you put that all behind you, must you cling to that side? I wish for you peace, and light. I see there is much of that inside of you already. And please forgive me for my part in not telling you almost everyday what your work means to me and my ability to create. THANKYOU> With tears, I say, for all the days I missed, Thank you!

Please come and tell me you forgive me if you can.
    Very Sincerely,
    And God Bless you,
Sharon (a simple wife and mother)

PS Okay, this has GOt to be THE most honest I have EVEr been!

  32. And I don't blame you for one second. It is such simple thing to do - just leave a comment or a thank you and that's all it is. Nothing too strenuous or costly, just quick and painless. I stopped posting free textures after a short time with Flickr because I was sick of seeing them used in peoples work without even a mention of the source. Anyway, this is not about me - its about you! So good on you and thanks for still posting your textures to your wonderful blog.
    Thanks

Thank you for all that you do. And I'm glad I'm already sub'd to your blog :)

  42. It is sad. I am grateful for your generosity and kind spirit. Thank you for keeping this blog going. I visit every morning just to see what is new and then run off to work. Maybe I should visit in the evening when I have a few extra moments to post a comment. I would hate to see this site cease to be updated frequently. As a very, very new amateur photographer, your work is inspiring.

  43. Ouch. I'm your number one worst offender. I have downloaded, and downloaded, and downloaded, and forwarded, and posted, and shouted of your creativity from the rooftops... But I never stopped to say thanks.

You are in my reader and I click the download link, and since I don't (have to) go to your site, it doesn't occur to me to go to your site and show my gratitude.

I'm a looser and I'm so very sorry.

I'm sorry for taking you for granted.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO AND HAVE DONE.

  48. i am, as many others have already said, sad to see that your textures will not be on flickr any more. it is too bad that people can't find it in their hearts to send a little thanks in return for your work.

so, if i haven't said it enough:
    thank you, gracias, thanx, etc.

and i am sure happy to hear that we will still be able to find you here!

    peace . . .

  49. GASP. Seriously, I know I've already said this how many times? But your textures are the best I've seen. I could hand Jesh De Rox a few hundred bucks for some textures, or I could use yours for FREE which is so kind-- AND they're just as good if not better. Thanks again. Everytime I open up google reader and see something from Shadowhouse Creations it's like I got a much looked forward to package in the mail.

  62. Dear Jerry,

I am one of the die-hard fan of your beautiful textures. I think I downloaded almost every textures that u posted and for that I am so, so sorry never to take the time to thank you for the amazing pieces u put up in Flickr for us to download.

Many times I have wanted to drop a note but was afraid not to know how to write something smart but do know that I can't begin to thank you enough for being so kind in providing such wonderful textures. I do put a link of your website in my blog and did mention about Shadow Creations although my blog is much more of a personal blog than commercial one. And I only use your textures for personal use since I myself am very new with editing stuffs.

So, please do pardon me for being ignorant...for not knowing how to thank the person whose blog i visit at least twice a day :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wow Jerry - I just have to comment again to say what an AMAZING response to your post.

You have obviously touched a lot of lives and now any of us who were delinquent in taking your generosity for-granted have had an awakening! You've allowed us to rethink our habitual actions.

And, this must be really meaningful for you too. If it were me I would print this all out and put it on my wall to see every day!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I love, love, love your work! Your textures are amazing and I'm so grateful that you offer them for others to use. But it's the images that you create that I find most astonishing. Thank you for sharing your creativity and talent!

  65. I know how you feel, I scrapbook for my fam and post on a blog and if no on leaves comments I think it is a waste of my time. I love your blog and chk back every other day or so. Thanks to your tutorials I can use the filters too, hadn't been able to "get it" in Elements. I love the effects they create. I have especially loved your brushes. The edges are my all time fav so far. I enjoyed your post for the fonts too. And have added several of them to my font library. I love your work and happy posting, I really look forward to my visits.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Damn. I just found you and comment often, but apparently not often enough. It's sad, but understandable. Having a blog I understand all to well the amount of energy and time it takes to post photos and prose and it's disheartening to not receive many comments. People sometimes just don't have anything to say, or how many times can they say "well done" without sounding like a recording. Hey, maybe you should SELL your textures and we'll all be more enlightened. Peace to you.

    ReplyDelete
  67. It's said to hear that you won't be posting to Flikr, but I am glad that you will still be sharing your textures on your blog. I am a subscriber of your blog. Your textures are amazing! I'm a very amateur photographer, but I can add one of your textures to one of my photos and look like a pro. Thank you so much for creating and sharing these on an ongoing basis.

  68. Jerry,
After scanning this volume of comments, I can only echo what others have said. I see credit to your work in many places. Just the other day I saw two in the gallery over at DesignerDigitals and another one over at the gallery for JessicaSprague.com. And I had only looked at about 8 pages of submissions between the two sites. I know your stuff is getting used and appreciated. I often enjoy them just as they are, without applying them to anything. I just like the texture and the color depth. As a person who writes a blog that gets almost no comments, I can also appreciate how it feels to wonder if your work it all for naught. Here, I know that is not the case. I hope you don't get too discouraged here, too.

On a completely different note,I also still wonder how you organized them so that you can find the one you are looking for quickly.

Thanks for your postings. I find them inspirational and a nice change from the saccharine sweetness that abounds.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I just have to add also that I have recently found your blog (I have never watched a blog before) and everyday I find myself coming to your blog. And you have pushed me to do things in Photoshop I was not aware could be done. I thank you. And look forward to reading your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Jerry, I too post free templates on Flickr and with some I've had over 100 downloads and not a word of thanks. I use your textures in my photo's and think they're great.
Many thanks for all your hard work and kindness !

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jerry,
The textures you post and imagery you share, I think, are inspiration to us all. I look forward to your blog every day, which by the way looks stunning. Please know that the resources you provide are second to none and greatly appreciated by many. And if you ever consider setting up some kind of texture-user community, I can't think of anyone better to lead it than you. I'd sign on in a heartbeat.

    ReplyDelete
  74. sigh.....
I have no idea what to say.
You work is beyond words to me.
I drool, really I mean drool over the ART that you post. I just checked my Ghostbones folder and I have 348 images. Truthfully, not all of them are your textures. Some of them are the ART you have posted, the ones that I have been in awe of. I know I have left comments from time to time but surely not 348. My humble apologies!! I know it is frustrating. I also share things on my blog. There will be loads of downloads but only a handful of thank yous. (it sucks) I have you on my reader both here and flickr so I will still view your blog post.=) I also wish there was a way for you to truly understand the scope of your following. IT IS HUGE!!
    And as much as I love your textures, I want to say thank you for the little red bird. I use him often. {{hugs}}
    ~kimi~

P.S. if you reconsider, we all promise to do better in the future.

  76. I am guilty of not commenting each time I use one of your textures, so let me say a resounding "Thank You" for all you do. Are are a true artist and a giving soul. And here is a smiley to add to it:

    :0)

Oh, and I will be sure to thank you more often now ;0)

I like especially your digital art.

  79. Jerry, I must admit that I'm guilty as charged! I only recently discovered your AMAZING work (from someone else crediting you, if that helps any), and I am still in awe of your talent and generosity. So "thank you" sincerely for what I have downloaded thus far, and I will absolutely make it a point to leave comments going forward. THANK YOU!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hi Jerry, I'm sorry for not commenting as often as I should. I truly admire you and your amazing digital art. I remember when you were posting on Flickr as SkeletalMess and then you left - there was such a void without your work.

  86. Thanks for all of your effort; you are a generous, kind, and talented individual!!

  87. Hi Jerry,

People like yourself are so rare that I think you may be the only guy on the planet generous enough to provide people with the tools they desire without paying. I see guys selling Lightroom presets after moving a couple of sliders and pressing save.

But its all well and good giving your art away for nothing. What makes you so special is that your work is quality and a something that people would willingly part with cash to have. It is very disheartening to know that your effort is not given the appreciation it deserves but looking at this thread it is easy to see in what high regard you are rightly held.

You are a one off and we all the better for it. I guess when you get something for free so regularly it is easy to get complacent and just expect it always to be there. I personally haven't said thanks enough so from the bottom of my heart thank you for the wonderful textures.

Keep well and always know your work is appreciated, even if we forget to say so sometimes.

    All the best

    Nechtan

  91. Oh I am so sad to see your last post. You do a wonderful job at not only creating but sharing. I try to say thank you but like some of the others, I am sure, not enough!

  92. Your downtrodden picture said it all - thank you so much for giving of your talent. I am sure God is very pleased with you. I love your darker work because I can feel the history of the world in it. The suffering, death, toil, victories, ruin, hope, endurance, and love. But don't be afriad to share some of the lighter side. We need as much of that as we can get. You may find even more of yourself there! But then again be true to your talent. Thank you sooooooooo much. Love and hugs.

  96. Oh, I resemble this post. I love your textures and have used them on a few photos, but alas, have probably never said "thank you" or even left a smiley. I have linked back to your textures, but that really is not a proper thank you. I'm sorry you won't be posting anymore textures, as I think they're pretty fabulous. Thanks for all of the wonderful images you've uploaded! ;-)

  131. we live in a me first reality. Sadly--kindness and appreciation are often lacking.
Sorry to hear you were discouraged by folks lack of manners.
I just stumbled upon your blog via anothers watch of you.
I am impressed by how considerate you are and liberal in sharing your work.
I often found that those who produce 'textures' and all the demands they set forth with them--as a barrier to using them.
But--having craftsmen who are willing to share --is encouraging.
Especially in this profit driven world we live in.
Manners --especially in this cyber world--are in deed lacking.
Know that their are some who are truly appreciative--with or without vocalizing it.
    thank you

  135. hello boy :)

even in this post you added a so beautifull and touching photography...

I'm discovering all of this, only know...

I just begin either to offer freebies and see the "litles" thanks :)

but they are thanks and it counts, and your work is still on the web and throught time, people like me will continue to come and discover :)

don't let those silent people kill your joy in sharing.

You sure must follow your rythm either, which is not always at the same speed :) isn't that human too ?

take care and thanks again :)

  137. Hi Jerry - just found your site through The Coffee Shop Blog and appreciate all of the freebies you have offered and/or led us too. I understand your frustration with people. I'm a photog and beyond a paycheck, there's nothing like gratitude and appreciation! I could go without money or food but "the love", I need! :) A quote given to me by a good friend (more than once) "No good deed goes unpunished" - True in many cases, but I will continue in spite of it! Also - Your photography is astounding!! Your heart shines through! Bless you friend and may good things always come to you!

  140. Ah, Flickr! When I joined it was fun to share and participate and then one day I found one of my images stolen and that led to the discovery of more and so I removed every single one of my photos and started over with just a handful of trusted contacts. Very few of my photos are now on public view with the rest for "friends only." I added you recently and now see this post. Believe me, I wholeheartedly agree with how you feel! People take, take, take and while you're giving freely and generously, it's nice to at least get a thanks and that coveted smiley. Well, Jerry, I thank you and I appreciate your generosity in sharing your creations and your talent. Be well! :)
